Brine Act: when brine becomes a resource

Valeureux is proud to share that it has taken a stake in Brine Act. Brine Act is a deeptech spun out of Polytechnique Paris-Saclay that turns concentrated industrial brines into clean water and reusable salts. It is our seventh investment to date.

A massive industrial problem

Every industrial site that handles reverse osmosis discharge, ponds or untreated brines faces the same challenge: effluents loaded with chlorides and sulphates, costly to manage and increasingly regulated. Brine Act’s next-generation crystalliser recovers up to 97% clean water and extracts reusable salts. It is compact, modular, and up to five times more energy-efficient than existing solutions.

Behind the technology is a founder who spent 20 years running industrial operations before deciding to solve this problem himself. That is exactly the kind of profile we look for: people who understand the problem because they have lived it, and who know how to build a company around the solution.

Next step: the industrial pilot

The momentum is already there: Brine Act has just been selected for the Qatar Science & Technology Park (QSTP) x TotalEnergies WaterTech Accelerator in Doha, a programme built to speed up water technology pilots and deployment in water-stressed regions.

Brine Act is preparing its first industrial pilot, planned for 2027.
